SUMMER 2021 COVID-19 UPDATE: September 23, 2020Comments Off on SUMMER 2021 COVID-19 UPDATE: September 23, 2020
Where do we stand right now in terms of planning for camp 2021?
First of all, “excited” doesn’t even begin to describe it. We have been lost without our in-person camp identity this summer.
I am the co-chair of a camp directors’ group from the New England states and I am also a member of the New Hampshire Camp Directors’ Association and the American Camp Association. We are learning a lot from our colleagues in the field who did run overnight camp this summer. Though most overnight camps did not run this summer, approximately 25-30 overnight camps ran in Maine and New Hampshire alone, and all of these camps were able to remain COVID-free or were able to mitigate the spread of the virus.
We are planning meticulously and we are feeling as optimistic as ever for a phenomenal summer at camp in 2021. As we make plans about what will be different than years past, we will let our enrolled campers and parents know.
Your kids will need camp, and we will, too!
