Our CIT program is typically two summers in length. Bunk CITs are second-year CITs. In order to apply to be a Bunk CIT, one must have completed Activity CIT summer. It is a competitive process, as we only have a certain number of spaces available.
Bunk CITs:
- Understand that the experience of being a counselor-in-training is very different from that of being a camper. It entails responsibility, enthusiasm for working with other campers, and an eagerness to learn from camp counselors.
- Attend a training period prior to younger campers arrival, which will orient CITs to what it means to be a counselor
- Eat meals and participate in all-camp activities along with younger campers and counselors
- Live in a bunk of younger campers as a third “counselor”
- Learn to be a bunk counselor by observing and assisting the other counselors in their bunk
- Learn to lead activities (in the activity area(s) of their choice) for younger campers by observing and assisting counselors in group activities, and to receive feedback from seasoned counselors
- Attend a daily group meeting facilitated by the CIT coordinator to discuss triumphs, challenges, and questions about learning to be a counselor, both in the bunk and in activities
- Give and receive evaluations of their work along with the CIT coordinator throughout the week
- Discuss potential of becoming a counselor in the future

"I cannot thank you enough for how magical this camp was and will continue to be for us, and all children. You, and all the staff and the volunteers change lives! The role models, the kindness and love and acceptance from everyone is priceless...this will give him confidence to fall back on if and when times do get rough."
